Design pitch for a company I applied for. This project took about three evenings to complete.

Design Process

The design time we have has been limited. Therefore, I focused mostly on what needs to be shown: process, problem solving, and visual design

Expert Analysis

I started with a quick expert analysis to be able to determine how I can prioritize problems I needed to solve. The more I can logically explain a gut-feel idea, the higher my priority over that problem.

Content Ideation

I used this method to generate an idea of important content and how it’s grouped together and how it fits in an over-all flow. This method is fast because of how easily I can re-arrange sequences or swap ideas for new ones

App Flow Architecture

From the ideation step, I created a simple diagram to see if it all connects well. The linearity of the ideation step is broken and here I saw more branches for different scenarios.

Quick Sketching

From the discovery phase, I started sketching some ideas to see if they fit together and have a good visual sense of the perceptive structure of objects and information.

Wireframes

After the sketching, I proceeded to putting things in wireframe format and added a bit more fidelity to it. In this stage, it’s all about content, layout, and over-all functionality.

Visual Design Exploration

Finally, the fun part, visual design, where all the hard work is brought to life. Well, before actual development, of course! Here’s a snippet of all the exploration instances I’ve done to discover my final design.

Preparing for Hand Off

Preparing for Hand Off

Of course, we need to make sure the file can be used by other team members. Here is a glimpse of my file structure on Sketch, and how I use a grid system. My type styles have line height ratios proportional to all styles used in the design, and fits well in the baseline grid.

Testing and Iterating

Let’s not forget the value of testing, and iteration, but for this exercise, I did what I could to show you what I can do with the things I have control over.

Digging Deeper

I listed a few more questions about the application and this was to show what else I think I need to consider when thinking about design solutions.
